New Permanent Home for Beloved Fort Collins Community Martial Arts Sanctuary

From Local Park to Inclusive Sanctuary, Fort Collins Wing Chun Continues Tradition of “Unassuming Excellence”

FORT COLLINS, CO – June 01, 2026 – After teaching dedicated students out of a park for three years, Fort Collins Wing Chun has officially opened its first commercial “mou kwoon” (martial training hall) at Denrose Ct. The move marks a major expansion for the school, transforming it from a hidden local gem into a permanent community sanctuary for traditional martial arts.  Stepping completely away from the hyper-competitive, contract-heavy model of modern commercial gyms, Fort Collins Wing Chun brings a refreshingly “old-school” community-first approach to Northern Colorado. The school proudly offers a safe, ego-free environment that focuses on helping individuals reclaim their bodily autonomy, build boundaries, and train their whole authentic self, while learning a Traditional Chinese Martial Art.

“Commercial martial arts environments can sometimes feel intimidating or competitive,” says group instructor, Rain. “Our school is built on the philosophy of ‘unassuming excellence’ passed down from the late Grandmaster Leung Sheung, who was Grandmaster Ip Man’s foremost disciple in Hong Kong. We focus on humility, mutual respect, and building internal structure. On our floor, egos are left at the door, and all practitioners are profoundly welcome.”

Wing Chun is a traditional Chinese martial art uniquely engineered around leverage, skeletal alignment, and efficiency rather than brute physical force. Because it prioritizes softness and structure over strength, it provides an accessible, deeply empowering somatic practice for people of any body type, age, or fitness level.

To honor its traditional roots, the school rejects corporate pricing structures. Monthly tuition is kept transparent at $108; there are no contracts. In lieu of a new student registration fee, newcomers participate in an old-school martial tradition: bringing a gesture of respect of their own choosing to their first class, traditionally presented in a red envelope. Even the school’s attendance policy is remarkably human: “Our schedule shows when we are open, but if you’re worried about starting because you won’t always be on time, don’t be,” says Rain. “Show up when you can. We’re just glad to have you on the floor.”

To celebrate the new location, Fort Collins Wing Chun will have a table at the upcoming Fort Collins Pride festival on Saturday, June 6th. Following the festival, the school will host a Free Community Open House & Intro to Wing Chun on Sunday, June 14th from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the new Denrose Court facility. Attendees will experience a low-pressure introduction to the art, explore the new facility, and learn basic physical centering mechanics. Registration for the Open House is required, due to maximum capacity regulations. Community members can learn more, view the full class schedule, and secure their free spot by visiting www.wingchun.works/open-house
